POLICY / LOCAL-FIRST

Privacy without fine print.

Effective 27 August 2026

Mirrorbyte does not upload your folders. Folder names, file names, file bytes, and their SHA-256 fingerprints are processed inside your browser. There is no account and no analytics or tracking script.

What stays on your device

Your latest scan report—including root names, paths, counts, sizes, hashes, and comparison results—is saved in your browser’s IndexedDB so it survives a refresh. Directory permissions are used only for the session and are not stored by Mirrorbyte. The offline app shell is cached by the service worker.

What leaves your device

Normal web-server access logs may contain an IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp. The app sends no folder metadata or file contents to our server. Exported reports go only to the download location you choose.

Delete your local data

Clear this site’s browsing data in your browser to remove saved reports, cached app files, and permissions. Quarantined folders are ordinary folders on your drive and must be removed or restored through your operating system.
